A new theory has come out claiming that the origin for the Moon was a multiple-little-impact against the old theory of an only one giant-impact.
The formation of the Moon would be the result of various collisions: A big body would collide with a young Earth, emiting material which would have formed a disk around the Earth. Afterwards, it would have condensed to a celestial body. This process would have happened about twenty times, generating twenty celestial bodies which finally would have unified resulting in the current Moon. |
