In 2019, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) is celebrating its 100th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the IAU is organising a year-long celebration under the central theme "Under One Sky", organising activities and projects.

One of this projectes is “ 100 hours of Astronomy 2.0” This project invites amateur astronomers, educators, professional astronomers, planetaria, science centres and more to arrange stargazing and other astronomy-related events around the world on 10-13 January 2019 to kick-off the anniversary celebrations

The Institute of Cosmos Sciences (ICCUB) and the Departament of Quantum Physics and Astrophysics of the University of Barcelona participate in this event promoting talks with their members as speakers and organising public observations of the Sun and Moon.

PUBLIC OBSERVATIONS

  • Thursday 10th, Diagonal Av., in front of Pedralbes Park (Barcelona)
    • 10 h - 13 h, Solar observation
    • 18 h - 20 h Lunar observation
  • Friday 11th, Universitat Sq., in front of the UB historical building
    • 10 h - 13 h, Solar Observation

EXHIBITION "De la Terra a l'Univers"

  • from 8 to 11 January, Martí i Franquès Hall, Physics Faculty, University of Barcelona
  • from 13 to 31 January, Pau Gargallo Hall, 0 floor, Faculty of Physics, University of Barcelona

We encourage you to:

  • Organize a talk in your center about astronomy topics with one of our members as a lecturer. Send us a talk request in order to find someone to give the talk. We should take into account the availability of time and travel.

  • Ask for one of our astronomy exhibitions
