18/06/2016, 16:05

Eduard Masana ICCUB(IEEC-UB)

The Data Center of Strasbourg (CDS) is an essential reference for professional astronomers. This center hosts a large number of astronomical catalogs and provides access through multiple tools.

One of these tools is Aladin, which enables to combine and analyze data visually. There is a reduced version of this tool Aladin Lite (developed by CDS), which is easily used with a mobile phone to explore how the sky looks like at different wavelengths, using data from various catalogs available through CDS services.

We will visualize various interesting objects using this tool and will learn what information we can extract from each type of data.
